One of the widest historic downtown streets in the USA

During the Steel Horse Rally is the only time that motorcycles are allowed to park "nose-to-nose" along the double yellow lines in the center of Garrison Avenue.

When: Friday, May 5th, 2023 from 6:30 PM until Midnight

            Saturday, May 6th, 2023 from 9:00 AM until Midnight

Where: Garrison Ave. from 5th Street (500 Block) to 11th Street (1100 Block) Garrison Ave. will be open to motorcycle traffic only and motorcycles will be allowed to park on the yellow line in the middle of the Street during these times. Motorcyclists must follow traffic signs and signals and use caution when parking. This parking area is for motorcycles only. No motorcycles pulling trailers will be allowed to park in the middle of the street. All motorcycles must be moved out of the middle of the street by Midnight.

On Saturday, May 6th, the Steel Horse Rally Thunder Through the Valley Motorcycle Parade takes place at 4:00 PM and the only traffic allowed on Garrison Ave. will be the motorcycles in the parade. Garrison Avenue has been part of downtown Fort Smith for more than two centuries and is where the Steel Horse Rally begins and ends each year. 

Ride the Steel Horse Taxi

Ride up and down Garrison Avenue in style during the Steel Horse Rally! Back by popular demand, you can make a minimum charitable donation of $5 and ride in style on the Steel Horse Taxi. The Steel Horse Taxi features the fastest barstools in the two state area! You can make a donation online or in person and the taxi will pick you up in front of the Steel Horse Rally Merchandise tent near Garrison Avenue by the big mural (800 block of Garrison Ave., Northeast corner of the parking lot).
