The 2019 Steel Horse Rally names Charities and Concert Headliner: Fuel
The 5th Annual Steel Horse Rally roars into downtown Fort Smith, Arkansas on May 3rd and 4th, 2019. The charity motorcycle rally officially kicks off at noon on Friday, May 3rd. Vendors from all over the country will be set up in the 800 block of Garrison under the big mural and in Cisterna Park in the shadow of the General William O. Darby Statue.
This year the entertainment on Saturday, May 4th will return to the big stage at Harry E. Kelley Park/Riverfront Park, on the banks of the Arkansas River.
“We are very pleased to announce that this year’s headline act, the multi-platinum recording artist, FUEL,” said Steel Horse Rally President Dennis Snow. Fuel is known worldwide for chart-topping hits including “Hemorrhage (In My Hands),” Shimmer,” “Falls On Me,” “Bad Day,” and “Innocent.”
“In addition to Fuel, we will also have live music by BeItTheMeans from Alabama, and Messer that hails from Dallas, Texas, and of course the crowd favorite Miss Steel Horse Rally Bikini Contest all from the stage at Harry E. Kelley/Riverfront Park on the banks of the Arkansas River. The Steel Horse Rally Inc. is a non-profit charity that was founded in 2014 and the Steel Horse Rally continues to be dedicated to “All Who Serve”: active duty military, veterans, law enforcement and first responders. Proceeds from the 2019 Steel Horse Rally will be donated to 4 local charities. This year’s recipients are: Antioch for Youth & Family, the Buddy Smith Veterans Home, the Fort Smith Museum of History, and the Children’s Service League. All of charities that applied and were voted upon by the Steel Horse Rally board of directors help provide services and assistance in the local community.
On Friday, May 3rd the Steel Horse Shootout II returns to Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, Oklahoma, drawing more professional and amateur motorcycle racers this year from around the country. “We had an incredible crowd last year and we are proud to welcome back the Vintage Dirt Track Racing Association for the 2019 Steel Horse Rally,” Snow said. “This is another family-friendly event and this makes the Steel Horse Rally a true two-state event!” The Steel Horse Rally Shootout II will also feature the Dealer’s Challenge to see which dealership in the region has what it takes to win, plus there will once again be racing classes for kids. Snow added that the first Steel Horse Rally Volunteer Team Meeting is slated for Saturday, March 16th at 10 a.m. at the Doubletree Hotel, 700 Rogers Ave., in Fort Smith, Ark. “Come out and volunteer and see some old friends and makes a lot of new ones, plus make some incredible memories as you help us spread the Spirit of the Steel Horse Rally.”
On Saturday, May 7th, 2022 at 10 a.m. one of the newest and most popular additions to the Steel Horse Rally returns: The Cops & Cones Motorcycle Exhibition. The event takes place in the middle of Garrison Avenue (between the intersection with Towson Ave. west to 11th St.) as law enforcement officers on their motorcycles take on the challenging course. Huge crowds are expected to watch these officers from around the region show off their precision riding skills as they ride between dozens of cones. The fun, family-friendly event is free to the public and a special thanks to the Fort Smith Police Department for making this event possible.
